Frequently Asked Questions > Marriage > How do I get married while stationed on Okinawa?

Search the FAQ for entries containing:

First off, congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

There are two considerations for a marriage while on Okinawa: the legal process and religious ceremony.  Given you are on the Chapel website I am assuming you require both.

LEGAL PROCESS

The best place to start is at the US Consulate in Naha where there are instructions on getting a legal marriage while on island.  The link can be found HERE .  Additionally, for service members getting married to foreign nationals please contact legal for all the paperwork that is associated with that process.  The Kadena Law Center is Building 15 on Kadena AB, the number is 634-3300 or 0989613300 by cell phone.

RELIGIOUS CEREMONY

Once, you have all the paperwork lined up or even after if you should chose the religious ceremony call our offices at 634-1288 or 0989611288 by cell phone to arrange a Chaplain.  The Chaplain process depends on the denominational or faith group requirements for Marriage before the ceremony can be performed.  Some of our Chaplains require up to six months of premarital counseling  before the religious ceremony can be performed.

Again, congratulations on your planned marriage and if we can help further please give us a call.
